Submit to Slate in Brief! Or not!

Remember, goal 1 is to convey the answer to the question in every Slate piece. That is, to cut to the chase.

Goal 2 is to make fun of Slate.

If you have to sacrifice one, sacrifice goal 2.

The biggest trap is quoting a line that merely elaborates on the question, rather than finding the answer.

If the headline isn’t a question but the subhead or the menu bar copy is, use that.

The idea is that all of Slate could be a long one-page FAQ.
